Abstract:
This study, drawing upon data gleaned from reports, policy directives, and empirical research, aims to provide a comprehensive overview of green banking – an emerging field within the economic development framework that prioritizes environmental and social considerations. Furthermore, several barriers encountered in the transition from traditional commercial banking to green banking are analyzed and evaluated. Based on these findings, policy implications are suggested to assist central banks, regulatory bodies, and policymakers in mitigating negative impacts on the development of green banking in the foreseeable future, thus moving closer towards sustainable development.
